You could also add
Textpattern into the list of blog scripts. It has a nice interface, although you may get "lost" when going around. If you use it for a while you may get used to it and learn something.

I wouldn't really recommend Cutenews because of some security issues, you could use an alternative such as
FanUpdate, it more secure than Cutenews but almost have the same features.
