It depends on the free host. I have one which I've been with for 4 years now and it's great. Reliable and the only tdowntime I experienced was when the server got attacked by kiddies who argued with an admin.

For my other projects, I got paid hosting. I want to know that the hosting will be there the next day. I'm tired of hosts going down on me.
