Google's corporate blog taken over - 03-29-2006, 06:30 PM

nternet search engine Google said it mistakenly deleted its corporate blog on March 27, allowing an alleged vandal to take control of the site for about a half-hour.

Trey Parker, who identified himself as an Austin, Texas teenager, has claimed responsibility for seizing control of the blog.
Found this kind of interesting. They got lucky that the kid didn't sabotage the site like he could have.

[/SIZE]The Google Blog was unavailable for a short time tonight. We quickly learned from our initial investigation that there was no systemwide vulnerability for Blogger. We'll let you know more about what did happen once we finish looking into it.

Update: We've determined the cause of tonight's outage. The blog was mistakenly deleted by us (d'oh!) which allowed the blog address to be temporarily claimed by another user. This was not a hack, and nobody guessed our password. Our bad.
you see they won't admit it still. how dumb?

How could they have 'accidentally' deleted their corporate blog? Lol.

Somehow this just proves that Google is not invulnerable.

Admitting to faults would be admitting that they're human too, seems like they don't really want to do that. lol.

well come to think of it, they don't have any choice actually,
(1) if they admit it, they appear as weak and after years of proving their reputation and as the search giant, hackers will come in and exploit the hole that was made previously on their blog, and (2) if they admit it, domainers/webmasters/admins like us will make fun of them exposing them as liars.. now what to do with that? all eyes are on them.

that's the sacrifice they have to pay for a bilion dollar company so sad.

I actually think that they are telling the truth. They mistakenly deleted their won blog and someone reserved the same name / path. I think it is kind of charming and makes them human again.

In my opinion Google is a friendly company. They are just so big that they attract a lot of scepticism and some people get scared about their power and ability of controlling the internet.

Well they do seem to be admitting to it... I find it kind of humerous that they are making it seem like something funny. I love the "d'oh" comment. Homer rocks, lol.
