Why not giving 5 ddpoints for EVERY post in the forum?

Because... sometimes... I don't get anything when I post...

And that can be good for the community, I think...

This is a bug in the ddPoints software that we are looking at. We will let you know once this has been resolved.

could you have points given out by length of post?
(as opposed to 5 for everything)

This would actually be technically possible, but we think it would encourage users to copy and paste posts from other sources, so we are not offering it at this point.

What do the others think? Would it be good to give ddPoints based on the length of the post?

Hi Everyone!

We think that this issue has now been resolved. We believe the problem was caused by a database connectivity issue and have updated the server configuration to the latest version.

We have now successfully tested the system using the Quote, Reply, and Quick Reply functions across three different forums. The ddPoints we always correctly credited.

Hopefully... I noticed a number of times yesterday that I wasn't getting anything when I posted.

Hi Everyone:

We have tested the points functionality and are unable to replicate any issues. Our points seem to be credited just fine. The only thing we noticed is that sometimes your ddPoints count appears not to have increased after a post, but if you hit refresh, you will see the increase (in this case the new page got built before that points were added in the database).

We will be monitoring this closely as we want it to work. Worst case would be that we have to move to another server, which we want to avoid because it would require downtime and a lot of work since the entire database would have to be migrated.
