Since some people are spamming for referals... why not give the 50 ddpoints when the referal has made lets say 3 posts... that way you cant cheat the system

People create new accounts and refer to their own account to get 50 ddpoints instantly... needs to be stopped

We are actually thinking of eliminating the 50 ddPoints referral bonus. There are poeple out there who have nothing better to do than creating dummy referrals and then requesting a free domain.

The points system does not support setting the referral bonus based on number of posts by the person referred. If it had, I would be concerned because we may end up with people creating dummy referrals and then nonsense posts, which would be bad as well.

Therefore we may eliminate the referral bonus.

IP checking works to some extent, but some people use proxies to get alternate IPs. We have other methods to catch dummy referrals and are banning those people.

Yeah might aswell eliminate it... by the way its easy to catch people using proxys :P I can do it no problem with a php script.

Can you just check the IPs of the members to see if the referral is legit or not? Other users are really referred here by other members.
