I think the way they optimize it is that you earn money from people visiting your site(s) as there are google ads spread out all over the 150 sites. I have always wondered why huge sites with more that 150 different topics on them like wikipedia do not use adsence as they will no longer need to take donations and it can ba a completely free service.
