I am sure that hiring one of these lawyers costs much much more than actual domain price. So why not just drop the disputed domain and get a brand new one for 3000 DD$

Its true that they cost much more than the actual domain price. But building a brand is a very important for a lot of companies.

With so many domain squatters aka domaineers being an accepted norm these days a lot of companies are realizing how critical it is to protect their domain names. Major companies understand the value of giving their clients a good impression and if it means securing more than 1 domain or hiring domain portfolio managers to protect their image they will do so.


Most of you probably have the impression that suing to get a branded name is long and costly but between that and paying a domaineer thousands just to sell you the domain sometimes its more practical to take the legal route especially if you have proofs of trademark ownership.



Oh and one more thing I very much doubt you can expect IT personnel finding time to post on boards just so their company or clients can save on a few bucks to get a free domain
