If you have the skills already you can be domaining in no time. If not simply start at google.com and take some time every day to learn something new. 2. Find people who can use your skills. Many of us that domain everyday are always looking for cheap design or someone to gather information for us. If it saves us time and money to allow someone else to do it we will hire them. Make sure your price is right and you give the paying customer everything he paid for. If you want repeat business you may do a little extra so that we remember who you are.

3. From using the guidelines in number 2 you should have a few bucks in your account now. Now's the time to start looking for a domain. If you are only buying the domain to turn around to another domainer for a few bucks then you could go with almost any domain. However if you're looking to make good money in this then time and patience is the key.

Below are some tips on how to go from a domain name to a good paycheck:

1. Make sure you have a business plan for your domain. Also make sure the domain fits your business plan. Example: pokerchips.com is not a good domain if you are planning a recipe site. That example may be far fetched but I'm sure you get my meaning.

2. Make sure your business plan has income as part of the plan. Even if it's selling books of amazon or using google adwords any plan for income is needed. You will have expenses at this point and the domain will need an income to support it.

3. Hosting is not needed right away. Most domainers go right out and buy hosting as soon as they buy their domain. To me this is a mistake. Build the site first, then get hosting. This way if it takes you a month to build the site you have saved the first months hosting fees.

4. Traffic: how are you going to get visitors to your new website? In the beginning you should look for free ways to do this. I have always used newsgroups. I get involved with the discussions first and then people get to know me and they know I am knowledgable about the subject. After you build a repore with others in the newsgroup you can start letting them know about your site. This can make for good targeted visitors to your site and help in the growth and success of your new site.

5. Updates: Every successful website has updates. New content all the time for their visitors to view. This is what keeps your visitors coming back. The more you know on the subject your building about the better.


It takes time to follow all the steps above. But if you work at it and do this everyday your site will grow and flourish in no time. If you keep building your site then google rankings and members will follow. When your site obtains an inome any kind of income if you built it with the intentions of selling it then nows the time to do it. Make sure you get a price thats fair for the amount of time you have into it and the amount of income it's bringing you.

In domaining the saying is: A domain and an Idea. If you have a domain and an idea you can win in this game. Big money is not needed to succeed in this business.

The article lays out the correct principles on a very high level. I would also like to see a reference to a site that gives out more detail or maybe some books.

In my opinion it can be very time consuming to generate substantial revenue from online activities. At some point, you will have to make a decision if you want to make this your full-time job or not.
