before adding a domain make sure you change/configure dns settings for that particular domain to these:

[SIZE=2] NS1.AFRAID.ORG (67.19.238.254)
NS2.AFRAID.ORG (69.94.133.163)
NS3.AFRAID.ORG (69.94.134.20)
NS4.AFRAID.ORG (70.87.151.119)

and then if it resolved, then you can add domain
http://freedns.afraid.org/domain/add.php

if you want your subdomain.domain.com be someone's elses then you register it's a parking service as well but only for redirection, it aids also in other's promoting your subdomains for free

uni.cc gives free dns i believe

I used to use xname.org. Works ok to me.
