Do you make any serious money with Domain Parking? - 10-17-2004, 11:38 PM

Ok, I must admit that I don't get it. Some of my friends spend a to of time optimizing the dozens of parked pages they have. Their wifes complain that they spend all their time in front of the computer and they keep promising big profits in the future. But for now, they have only made peanuts. So my question is: Is it possible to make serious money (i.e. to be able to live from it) with domain parking?

Cheers.
Mike

I know for a fact that some people make a living on it, but it is pretty tough, requires a lot of time, and some really good domain names, which are impossible to get now.

I am staying clear of it. Most likely you would make more money selling some odd stuff on ebay.

Cheers.

I have most of my domains parked with DomainSponsor. They have new auto optimization program that works pretty good. All you have to do is forward your domain to them. Links for the most popular searches come up on the landing page and change according to what people are searching for.

I have some domains that make .30 a day and some that make $2.50 a day. It doesn't seem like much but if you add it up over 365 days times XXX amount of domains it could be a nice sum.

Ult Search earns $160,000 a day

eBay ****s - 02-05-2005, 07:34 PM

Making money on eBay is not that great. If your a seller they screw you with too many fee's and fee hikes!

I have www.disabilitycompensation.com parked at SEDO.

I average about $2.00 per click through.

I have www.skilledtrade.com parked at SEDO, it only makes 10 - 30 cents per click through.

Length of name does not seem as important as "Key" words.

To answer the question...Yes you can, but it takes a bit of work, research and patience.

There are lot of parking programs out there that can give you good income and with the right set of domains can provide you enough to live off it.

best parking programs around are:

Domainsponsor
Fabulous
Sedo
Domainhop
Trafficparking
TrafficZ

There are others but I have found the ones above to be the best.

If you have a lot of traffic you will make a lot of money. If you don't have a lot of traffic you won't. When parking domains traffic is the key.

I personally think if you're not using a domain it's worth parking it. Parking programs do not charge for their service, so if you're earning $2 or $1000/month you're still benefiting. Even when I am only earning a few dollars a year for a domain I keep it parked, it offsets the renewal fee.
Once domains are parked they do not require much maintanice time.

How to generate traffic - 08-22-2005, 09:59 PM

So if traffic is the key, how do I generate traffic on a reasonable domain name that has not been registered before?

Most parking programs do not accept paid traffic. So if you are registering domains, try registering typos of domains with traffic.

Or you need to first build a small site, generate traffic and then park the domain.

You can also buy domains with traffic on the secondary market in forums and at marketpaces such as Sedo.com

Good info - 08-24-2005, 11:47 AM

Thanks for all the info. It sounds to me that this is no place for people to make a quick buck. It requires a serious amount of effort in terms of time and dedication, and some money. And then you need to get lucky as well sometimes to be able to grab a good site.
