China tightens up Internet control - 07-20-2005, 01:22 AM

China tightens up Internet control

China Ministry of Information and Communications issued a rules that said all websites will be shut down by the government, if these websites are not "re-registered or archived " at the government before June 30, 2005. And now hundreds of thousands of business and private websites are shut down because they are not registered at the ministry. To register again, one has to collect lots of paper, takes lots of time and spends lots of money (from RMB 1000 to 3000 a year). This is a regulation in violation of freedom of information exchange in the Internet.

wow so much for freedom. China sounds like a great place to be a hacker. It's almost like you're a messenger from God. But there are going to be so many sites that are not archived. Can the government software be advanaced enough to catch online gaming and intellectual property transfers?

It sounds like they are un-Internetting the Internet. I bet there is a way for pirate internet to work. You cannot alter the Internet to serve Communism or Socialism. People love it because of the freedom it gives and allows.
