China tightens up Internet control
China Ministry of Information and Communications issued a rules that said all websites will be shut down by the government, if these websites are not "re-registered or archived " at the government before June 30, 2005. And now hundreds of thousands of business and private websites are shut down because they are not registered at the ministry. To register again, one has to collect lots of paper, takes lots of time and spends lots of money (from RMB 1000 to 3000 a year). This is a regulation in violation of freedom of information exchange in the Internet. |
