Is the only point of reselling to make money? I know that's a funny question, since most things are done for money...but I really had never heard of reselling before and wondered if it is just like brokering real estate or what?

Well from what I understand it is like brokering. You set up your own site to sell domain names, but when you sell them you are actually selling them through the company (i.e. WWD). Is that correct?

It's like selling rack space but over the web. And most people don't want to administrate the whole kit and caboodle. Just their own functions.

Some people become domain resellers, not really to earn money, but to save on the registration fees since they register a lot of domains themselves.

also if you own a hosting site and you want to compliment your hosting services and instead of paying the tucows/opensrs non-refundable 95bucks, you save on money and become a domain reseller.

It's mostly for the price cuts that resellers are given. Some people prefer getting their domains from someone they know personally so they can personally take their fists to his face should something go terribly wrong

basically you're dealing with wholesale prices plus with a lot of gadgetries to go to your domain manager/control panel.

If you are a domainer with lots of domains under your belt, it would probably be wise for you to get a reseller. And you can make money on the side while doing what you want!
