I prefer dot nets because for me they just sound very good, but dot coms are the most popular so if a dot com is available it is best to take it (while you have the chance)

it depends, whichever is available.
but personally, if it's more of a public site,
i'd go for the .com

Lots of 4 letter .com's are not registered too. It just takes a while to find one.

Even though dot coms are popular and should be used for normal websites, dot net appeals to me better, and basically just 'sound' good.

i would say that more people would actually prefer to visit a .com site .. its easier to remember as well .

.com are more popular, but somehow, xxx.net sounds cooler to me than xxx.com
