About Free Hosts

This thread might sound "cliche" and if its posted already please let me know, but i want to dicuss the current crises of free hosts.

Basic Problems:

Some Free Hosting companies are hosted by people who want to earn $$ through their google adsense so they post at a forum get a 10gb reseller and start a hosting server which leads to nothing but disaster for both serious members and the company.

Other companies collapse i.e they either have FLAWS in their plans (forced ads) or they provide a little too much than that which they can handle, another reason for a company collapsing is that it doesnt generate enough revenue from its site that its expenses get unbearable and profit turns dramatically into loss and they ultimately end up selling their servers (trust me i've seen it happen about 10 times already)

My Advice to everyone out there who uses a free hosting service is:

> Look for Professional Hosts that donot give plans that offer more than that which you need i.e 10gb space 50gb bandwidth etc, there is no way you will use that space so forget it.

> Always keep on saving backups of your site, daily for once in 3 days because you never know when their server goes down and you lose your work COMPLETELY and they are not responsible for it because they dont owe you anything.

So be Cautious and Be Safe!

Yes, this all is pretty true. That's why I shifted to paid host. I suffered once as ahost goes down and I have site that on the way of popular. I lost all data.
I have one site free hosting. They forced to place ad so they can earn. It's reliable.

I personally don;t like free host as they always have super BIG ads on my web. If the web is ok , it think if I put google ads on it, I must cover back the host cost.

Free Hosts arent bad, i still use them for personel websites and forced ads are not usually present on decent free hosts but while using a freehost you should always expect the unexpected because they shut down whenever they want.

Examples are: FusionXhost (free hosting sector), E10Host, AHPLACE is still up well but with alot of server issues it has 40% uptime if you ask me.

I thought of something ironic, my friend is making this forum thing about free hosts, like you can list decent free hosts etc, ill sig it as soon as he finishes.

In my opinon, backups shouldn't be a problem if you FTP files to your site as you have to have a copy on your local server before you can FTP it over.

And anyway, there are some hosts who set up the company, get it popular and sell it to another person. That new owner, thinking that it's a good way to get rich and not knowing anything, will just leave the site to crash on its own because he thinks its self sustaining in which it isn't.

Quite right, a person i knew actually bought a free hosting company for 300$.. and he had planned to run it on a phpbb.. forum.. i mean i dont want to be rude or anything but a PHPBB forum for a PROFESSIONAL Hosting company is just sad, and the worst part was he mades plans such as the following:

Plan One: Starter = 10GB Space
50GB Bandwidth
Unlimited Sql
Unlimited Ftp Features etc.

Plan Two was same too with more space and bandwidth and after this he just sat back for like 1 week he ignored his site and when he opened it.. well.. things had gone way beyond ugly and he sold it again to someone for 200$ utter sadness though and believe me that guy didnt know what a COPYRIGHT was and he thought he should post music downloads on his site to make people happy. (im serious ^^)

i still use 110mb.com servers even after some bad happennings its the best
