Free or Cheap or Affordable Web Hosting ?

Dear friends,

Each person has their own personal choice in terms of having a web hosting plan : free or cheap or affordable ones. Well the decision is upto you on the following factors. I will talk about the shared hosting plans only.

1. Free Hosting Plan - If you have just one domain and you wish to keep that one only for forever, and you do not need database for your hosting account, then free hosting plans just suitable for you. There are number of free hosting plans available around (~ 100 MB)

2. Cheap Hosting Plan - if you want to upgrade your hosting plan to the paid one, cheap hosting plans is the next choice. There are many hosting plans with $1-3/m. Note that most of the cheap hosting plan will allow you to host just one domain. And make sure that they provide all the features that you may need now or in near future. It will be wise to choose a cheap plan which can eventually be upgraded in future if you wish. Many of hosting companies do not provide upgrade plan – and in such case you need to move to another hosting company.

3. Affordable Hosting Plan - If you have/going to have few domains (even more), getting a hosting plan which allows hosting unlimited domains will be the best choice. Again there are quite a few hosting companies providing hosting plan allowing unlimited domains hosting.

For those of who do not much computational/programming skills please look for a hosting plan providing free applications for your choice. There are tons of free and open source applications out there – you can use any of them to start your website in easier way – and your site still looks professional.

A final note: many hosting companies keep coming up and some of them will just disappear as their business is not running properly. Therefore, make sure that you opt for a hosting company with a reputed track record and good customer support.

For me it depends of the site which I want to make on-line ...

If it's important, busines or portfolio - there is always better to get good profesional hosting (You can set more sites / domains on it)
And for rest - free host (like frihost.com - free but verry good)

I don't think that cheap hosts are worth of it ... they just like free ... If I have to spend moneys, I want to spend them well ...

Good approach - In fact when I started looking for hosting plan a couple of years ago, I opted for one of the cheap hosting plan - that was a great mistake for me - I have no option but to move my hosting plan to another company- a big headache. As of now I use shared hosting accounts only and planning to take a dedicated server for my own sooner or latter!!
