Question Need a good host - 02-15-2006, 09:05 PM

I'm surprised there aren't more threads here!

I just bought a domain for my business, and while the site isn't even designed yet, I am trying to figure out who I want to host it. I purchased it through GoDaddy, and considered using their hosting. It's cheap. Does anyone know how good their hosting is?

Do you mean thread on this site or under Hosting Providers?

I have my site hosted by Godaddy and so far haven't had any problems. Like you said, the cost is very reasonable. It all really depends on what type of site you are running. Is it a big business? You may want to pay more for piece of mind, though I find nothing wrong with Godaddy.

Well, I have heard GoDaddy.com is not that great, and I have heard so-so things about Yahoo. I sure don't know much about the others, though I'd be really interested.

If you're willing to pay for the hosting - there a myriad of different options available. However, if you want free hosting go and check out the list of hosting providers in the Hosting Providers section - it has hundreds of free hosting solutions. Make sure you get one that has cPanel though! Good Luck!

No, I don't necessarily need free hosting. I actually would prefer not to do free hosting, as usually you get all that advertising junk that comes with it. But, with that said, I'm not a webmaster or anything, so I need something really user friendly. This will be my first website, and it will be relatively simple.

Charly, thanks for the tip on LunarPages. I took a look and it seems really interesting. The next big thing perhaps??

Er, no. The godaddy hosting is supposed to be bad. At least that's the word on WHT. A friend of mine is hosted there and downloads stops in the middle.

You can go to http://webhostingtalk.com and browse around. A lot of hosting offers are there and you just might find the one you like
