One of my friend, has started a service which is like this, he install's php scripts and do all the customisation as his customer wants and takes some cash for his work, is it legal??? can anybody take cash for installing free scripts for someone else??

oh absolutely its your free time you have the right to charge or do it free. I know a lot of people that are doing it publicly like advertisting it on thier sites.

Sounds like he's doing 'independent contractor" work. Anyone can be paid for what they lawfully do, you pay Starbucks to make you a drink that costs about 3 cents everyday, think about it.
