I have a small proxy site - which i use for school (which doesn't allow people to visit alot of sites). Is a proxy classed as legal - or is it illegal?

It is legal unless used for illegal purposes - such as w/\rez

hmm .. wait, u mean u are running a proxy for others? if u are running it on a shread host .. i believe its against their TOS .. but if not, running a proxy is no problem at all ..

If your school finds out you are using a proxy to access a restricted site they can ban you from the computers there. At least that's how they do it at my school. (I never did that though.)

Ouch - but i am very careful

Do schools have any other way of checking what sites you have been other than just checking the history

Well there is a 99% chance that they have a firewall. It keeps a list of all the sites you go to. They can just visit any suspicious sites and if they see a proxy they can figure out at what time and what computer it was from and they will approach you.

Also at my school there is software that allows staff to view the screen of every computer. There's nothing around that. If you disable the software they will visit you.

Well I wouldn't use a proxy site at school, but I use them at home sometimes.

But it's better to be safe than sorry, just don't use a proxy or any other questionable activity at school and you should be fine.
