Dont get sued stealing content! must read - 08-26-2006, 01:37 PM

many of you are new to domain name websites, but did you know that stealing a funny picture without permission is HIGHLY illegal without crediting back to the author(watermarks) when you want to protect your site goto creativecommons.org theyll protect your site from being ripped from and you can sue people for stealing your content, isnt this fun?
in the long run you willl need the creative commons license

a good legal point you have there, but getting sued is not fun. always credit anything that is copyright and don't just copy it, even in article writing if you go the resource from somewhere have the decency to mention the link where you researched it.

You're right. This has turned into a copy paste world. A simple link back to the source would solve many problems.

The problem is, very often, it's not worth suing the person or it's just not possible. I wonder if there's anything on eBaum's that was once protected by a CC licence. It'd be interesting if there were.

Wow! Then if I'm protected by the Creative Commons and I find someone that ripped my content and removed by watermark, what is the best way to get back at them? (If possible, compensation too). Does it really have to go through a lawyer? If it really has to, then won't it just mean more trouble?

More trouble for the guy who pirated your content.

It depends on how far you're willing to you. An email from your lawyer might scare the offender into removing your content.

Ripping stuff is just stupid. Why dont people just learn to make stuff themselves instead of stealing other's work.
