Creative Commons Clarification - 08-31-2006, 05:46 AM

I'd just like to clarify that Creative Commons helps you to classify your content to the public. They provide you with the necessary technical language to protect yourself from plagiarism.

They will not take any part in any lawsuits. They will not protect you from people stealing your work. They are not lawyers.

I saw many people misunderstanding their purpose hence I've posted this.

No, there isn't.

many of you are new to domain name websites, but did you know that stealing a funny picture without permission is HIGHLY illegal without crediting back to the author(watermarks) when you want to protect your site goto creativecommons.org theyll protect your site from being ripped from and you can sue people for stealing your content, isnt this fun?
in the long run you willl need the creative commons license
I've seen that thread and even replied in it. My topic clarifies that Creative Commons don't protect your site. They only help you to protect yourself. Read my first post fully.

Okay I got your point. But unless the picture took the person several thousand dollars to produce, I don't think you'll go around suing people for a picture you made using MS Paint or Photoshop.

Why not? It's not the money that matters. It's the spirit of the thing.

You're making it sound like it's alright to steal content that isn't worth much just because it's not profitable for the owner to sue you.
