hi,
i have been working with the open source cms , joomla for the past 2 months.
I have a problem.
on every page, at the footer section, a copyright statement of joomla is shown. Is it allowed legally to remove the copyright statement? if yes, then how.

you shoud not remove that Copyright statement.

If a software is open-source you are legaly allowed to remove any copyright tracks because open-source means that everybody is allowed to modify the content and redistribute (only as an open-source)

cabron is right. You are free to modify the script to your needs. This means you can remove that copyright line ... or just put in copyright 2007 your site

hmmm I might do this.
Are you sure that it is legal, I know it is open source and you can modify it but can you remove the copyright without breaking the ToS?
Im kind of weary of removing copyrights now, because on my personal website I couldn't be bothered making css and graphics so I found a free one and removed copyright. About 2 months later the person that made it sent me an email saying if I didn't put it back he would take legal action.
So I am kinda cautious.
Are you sure that you are allowed to do this?
