Watch out for this scam

[SIZE=1]I recently recieved emails from a person wanting to buy my domain. They sent this email:

I saw you were selling the domain ====== and was wondering if you still have it forsale? I have around $500 to spend for your domain. Is that fine with you or to low?

Do you have an independent valuation from industry experts [appraisal]? The reason I ask it because I buy, wait a little while and resale it. If I am to resale it, I would need to be able to make a profit and an appraisal helps me make that decision.

I've looked around and found that www.appraisalpros.info is a very modest appraisal service and we both can make a good deal and not get screwed by underpricing or overpricing it.

If we agree on a price, how do you accept payments? Paypal.com?

So I looked the guy up and found out that it was a scam email. A lot of appraisal sites like the one above does this. Once you get an apprasial from them, you'll never hear back from the 'guy who was interested'. Watch out! No one needs domain appraisals!

you can monetise any domain yourself. usually nobody trusts those services anyway. they are just lookiing to make a buck.

Unless you are bidding really in the high figures, where you want to find parity between all valuations before paying out for a big dollar name.

I had the exact same email from the guy. I nearly considered getting an appraisal for it so nobody do what he wants. He is just touting for business.

Thanks! I got this email too, but since I am new to this and did not have a clue what it was about, I just deleted it as soon as I received it. There are so many scams out there that I am over cautious, but alot of people could fall for this one.

Wow, I had never even heard of domain appraisals before. It really does sound legitimate though, and I'm sure many with untrained eyes/ears are falling for this scam!
