Best Way To Track - 11-17-2007, 10:00 AM

Ok i am about to start a competition on my site whicch would require them to link back to my site with a button i will provide them.

Now the button can be direct link or uploaded to thier own server, the thing about this is. I want to know the best way to be able to keep track of those hits coming in. I want to keep track of all of them so that its fair and no one is cheated out of any hits they bring in.

So my question is, how do I do this, should i have the button hosted on my site and if so how would I keep track of every single hit that comes int specificcally for that competition? Do i make a special page for it? I prefer it coming into the main part of the site rather than a subpage. Can i use a script of some kind that will still allow me to use a button so that the hits are recorded fairly?

Hope someone knows what i'm talking about and can help me out here

use your subdomain to make a topsite the best and automated way to do it.

well i don't really want to make a subdomain i want the traffic to come to my main domain rather than a subdomain if that make sense, but yeah i can probably still do the topsites, just not have anyone really join it, I'd add them instead. Hmm but thank you i will toss that idea around I like it a lot thanks weblord always my hero ^^

If anyone else has any other idea id love to hear them, thanks for at least reading my post ^^

i thought about the subdomain and thought that if i did that the contestant can put thier button (code) on any site or more than one site and cheat you know? Instead of having them click on a code and have them send visitor to my site as a hit from thiers. omg i don't know if that made sense, this other referrer script i am going to take a look at now, cos i really need to get this going im running out of time. hehe. thanks weblord your amazzzzzzzzzzzzing
