Please help me with a survey

I don't need a pool for it as I am writing an article about this.
Let's say you have a good site and the user's would also like a forum on your site.
What would you use ?

• a free forum software (SMF, etc.)
• buy a licence for a paid forum like DDBoard has (VBulletin)
• use a paid forum without a licence
• don't make a forum

I would really appreciate it if you could give me honest answers.

For the start, I would use a free forum... phpbb. And if my site will extend, I would purchase a license for IPB. (with my adsense money )

Well, if it is really a good site, lots of open minded members, then I'd buy a license for either vB or IPB. But for starter, I'd use free forums (myBB or XMBforum).

I mean would you buy a forum with many features for your members ? Like ddboard bought a copy of vBulletin ? or use it without licence and stuff like that ?

I would start off with a free forums , and move on to paid forums if the response is good

if you're really serious, if I were you I would buy license for vb, and install a forum.
