What exactly is this? I know Godaddy charges around $20 (or something like that) for this.

When you backorder a domain, the company will try to "grab" it for you when is becomes available. Usually the chances are prettly slim as the domains willl most certainly become renewed by the current owner. If the current owner does not renew, then there may also be several backorders and you have to get lucky to win - there is no rule here which backorder is served.

If you backorder a lot of domains, some will come through eventually, but it becomes pretty expensive.

I agree with mike56. Backordering single domains has low chances of getting the domain. Backordering really makes sense on a higher scale only.

Thanks for the info. Do you have to pay if you don't get the domain from backordering?

You will not get a refund if you do not get the domain. You can however continue to use the backorder you paid for and apply it to another domain. You can repeat this until you finally get a domain. I think this is a fair solution.

Awesome! Thanks for the info! I always wondered how backordering worked! I think I'm going to try this out!

Have you had any successful backordering experience?

It is good you can apply your money to another domain. Atleast you can keep from being out any money.
That does sound very fair.

I am glad to hear that I can use my backorder with another name, because I placed a name on backorder awhile back, and I thought I just had to wait for it forever. I guess I didn't read the fine print. I missed the part that says I can use for another name. Thanks!

I am wondering if when backordering for a particular name, and you do not get it, can you backorder again for the same name? Hoping you will get it next time?
