CHALK Advertising. it works.

I recently launched a new site and to market it I went to campus and wrote it in chalk at highly trafficked areas on campus. So far ive made 20$, but thats not bad for doing something so easy. lol.

Hehehe this is deffinately an original idea hadnt ever heard it before. I have also read somewhere online about placing your business cards in relevant books at the book store or library (as bookmarks i guess) havent tried that one yet either, but I did get a giggle from the guy that was advertizing his gambling sites in gambling anonomous books :P

i have also done this do chain marketing tell ur website to ur friend and ask them to spread the message like this you may benefit.write a classified ad about ur site if you sell anyting ,in the local newspaper

I've seen things for college parties and stuff advertised in chalk on my campus, but never a website. What a cool idea! You can also post stuff on announcement boards, I've seen that at my school before.

I actually posted some ads in newspapers before I learned about AdWords and Overture. The result was: 0 sales. I guess my products and services were too specialized and the audience of the ad was not targeted enough.

Maybe you can find a specialized newsletter or newspaper? For example, if you sell, say, pet products, you could find a newsletter that a vet sends out or something.

zogby, what was the site you advertised, or at least what's it about? This method could work, if your site's targetted audience are the people who can view the chalk advertising, in this case, the students.

I want to play in the world series of poker wearing a T-shirt that advertizes my website, the upside is that if I play well I not only get the chance to win more than a million.. It's an internationally televised event... The downside.. if I lose ... swoooosh 10 grand gone..

I advertised survey sites. My results were this: I doubled the money I put into advertising for the longer ads. i guess residual effects of daily exposure helped me out after awhile. The shorter and more expensive ads broke even.

Another thing that seemed to help was that most of these newspapers were also online providing good incoming links to my site.
