Email Marketing - 03-27-2006, 02:53 AM

What is your opinion regarding email marketing/advertising? I know many people regard it as spam, but if used properly, I think it has a lot of potential. I've subscribed to several opt-in mailing lists from reputable marketers, and oftentimes, there'll be emails which tempt me to click and check out the offer on the email.

How about you? Or has anyone here had success with email marketing so far?

if done properly? usually there are ignorant people or even your competitors who have subscribed to your mailing list and will report you to spamcop so it's better not to do it, the still best for me email marketing is done one on one. why send them a message and waste your time if they're not interested a long time subscriber can turn into a complainant just in seconds so it's very risky, esp. there are servers nowadays like layeredtech who will regard one report of spam as spam already and will terminated and shutdown your server, so if I were you, don't there's no such thing as email marketing but most effective and still best is forum marketing. Imho

I see, I forgot to consider the possibility of the host shutting down your account for spam complaints. However, wouldn't you still have a case if your list is optin anyway?

been there done that, that is if you keep a good logs of all isp's ip addresses of your subscribers could be but even in layeredtech just to be safe from this so-called optn list is not to allow the use of mailing multiple persons in a given time but to do it manually and one by one is the best, Imho if you have done a careful research on this optin scenarios you find most of the optin list builders so called are the spammers themselves, check them out;

so why bother, that's my view on this of course,

I belive there is even a huge fine if you spam someone that lives in Washington state. However, if theyve subscribed, it isnt spam... I have considered adding a newsletter to my forum. So far though, the only reason I have not is pure procrastination

I see. Manually emailing one by one would be such a pain though, and would be more loss than what I would possibly gain, so I guess I'll steer clear of this area then.

I would consider e-mail marketing to your own opted-in customer base as legitimate. I would also stay away from any type of purchased or rented mailing lists.

hi, email is most effective marketing if we use them correctly, byt this days with built in spam controllers, it is virtually impossiable to make all cust read ower mails.

I agree. Any purchased lists may have email addresses of people who do not want to be mailed. Opt-in mailing is good, though, especially if you send coupons to your opt-in mailing list. I love it when I get coupons in my email

So as long as it is your own opt-in list (meaning they signed up from your site), it will be okay to use email marketing? Coupons would be a nice touch, I have to agree. I love receiving coupons in the mail as well.
