Pagerank? -
02-03-2007, 02:43 PM
I recently bought dc4c.com, and after the purchase, I noticed the pagerank was 3. After I changed my nameservers and uploaded a site, the pagerank became 0.
I was wondering how this happened. I was slightly confused about the pagerank, thinking my toolbar was acting up as usual, but i triple checked on two pagerank checking websites, and everything said 3.
It has very few backlinks, and after research, I found this is the main source of pagerank.

well ... backlinks increase your page rank ... probably somebody had this domain in the past ... and it remained in google. Now that it is another site ... it got back to 0 I guess.
I have some backlinks to for SavasPlace.com and I managed to make a Page Ranking 3 by now

If you have a lot of traffic, you are likely to have a lot of backlinks and other features Google looks for, so yes, the more traffic, the higher pagerank.

Domain Names are big business these days, and Pagerank fraud is becoming a serious problem. When someone is offering a domain name for sale, they can artificially inflate the domain's Page Ranking. It is achieved when offending domains use a 301 or 302 redirects that point their sites to sites with a high Pagerank. This is a well known trick in the Search Engine Optimization (Search Engine Optimization) world, but people who aren't familiar with SEO are most likely to fall for this.
Enter a domain name like [www.domain-A.com]. Click submit. If the URL from the results is the same as the domain you entered, then its okay. However, if you see URL: http//www.domain-B.com then its a fake.
