Adwords - Adsense?

What is the basic difference between adsense and adwords? What do both of them mean anyways?

Adwords is pay per click advertising that you can purchase. If you do a search on google, you'll see a list of results on the side that say "Sponsored Links". Basically, those webmasters paid to get on the sponsored link position. You have to bid to get to the highest spot. Adsense is something you can put on your website and be paid everytime someone clicks it. An example of Adsense is at near the top of this message board "Ads by Google". HTH!

• AdWords: Google's product for advertisers who want to promote their products and services. You pay Google for ads that are shown on search and/or content pages.
• AdSense: Google's product for publishers who want to show ads on their pages. Google will pay you based on the number of clicks on these ads.

Adsense and adwords are core business of google.
adwords is advertising for advertisers and adsense is for publishers who get paid for that.
