BTW, guys. I'm now using ZipGenius. Its quick and supports rar, zip (all the common formats). It also allows you to extract multiple files to multiple folders which is what 7-Zip was missing.

But, it still can't compress to rar. Does anyone know a good alternative to winrar that also supports compressing a file into a rar file? I can't seem to find any

winrar supports all the formats supported by winzip and also .rar.so there is no question which is better

I use winzip mostly. Not that winrar isn't nice, but whoever decided that it would be a good idea to let people password protect archives needs to be shot. If I download another .rar file without a password being provided I'm going to loose it!

I use winrar only because it is more popular and suport popular formats. But the best algorithm I found was WinUHA (WinUHA - UHARC GUI - High Compression Multimedia Archiver ) I use that one only with some friends that also have it installed. I like it because of it's power. Can compres much better than other algorithms...but it takes a little more time.
