FrontPage - 02-13-2006, 11:21 PM

This program is simple but makes straightforward web pages. Very WYSIWYG in nature. Almost every web hosting package supports Frontpage extensions now. How many out there are still using this?

Frontpage is a good tool for the entry level user as it is very intuitive and has a MS Office look and feel, which most users are familiar with. Professional web designers will most likely use Dreamweaver though, as it is far more powerful than Frontpage.

Professional Webdesigners use Dreamweaver is correct but Webmasters dont use it.
Because all the Search Engine Optimization tools can be done only from Frontpage which is more easier

What do you mean by this? What is it specifically that you can do in FP but not in DW?

I agree some webmasters that are not really web designers use FP to edit the HTML code as it is easier to use than DW (and cheaper), but that is not really web design. You could use a text editor (i.e. notepad) just the same to do that.

Well the last 30 pages I made I didn't use Dreamweaver and I'm a web designer. Webmasters are web designers. Anyone splitting hairs over that nicety has more than a bit of unwanted snobbishness and insecurity coming on.

Dreamweaver has a lot of clunky bells and whistles that could be done 100 times faster in the CSS editor.

I use FrontPage only because it is easy and I am just beginning to learn to design sites. I would probably love a "fancier" program and its options, but I would be lost at how to use it.
