Would you buy a server too ? Or only the domain + company's plans and reputation ?

I think the best thing to do is to make your own hosting company from scratch because then you build your own company's reputation, this way you only buy the domain name and reputation the company has (good or bad) and you skip the hard work. If you want a successful company you should start from scratch !

But usually, when you buy a company, you also buy its capital ;] (like the servers)

Reseller means that someone who owns a VPS or Dedicated server will give you a WHM account with privileges to create cPanel accounts, and will limit you either on quota (disk space or monthly transfer) or on number of accounts you can create!
