What is eyeOS?
eyeOS is an Open Source Web Desktop Environment, commonly known as Web Operating System (Web OS) or Web Office. eyeOS is Open Source Software, and can be downloaded or used through the official eyeOS server. The basic System comes with some office and PIM applications, and the complete eyeOS software database can be found at eyeApps.org and in the public server. More information can be found at the forums and in the screenshots section.

I created an account there and I must say that the Developers have put a great deal of effort into this project.

I tried many apps.
Many apps are still buggy and sluggish.
Anyway it is a good way to kill boredom.

eyeOS is pretty good, but when i signed up a while ago i ended up getting bored with it. it isnt something you can use every day

A neat idea. I'll try this over the weekend. Wish they used a little more contrast though.

Oh yeah! You can give a user only browser and net access and prevent him/her from accessing anything else on a computer. The user can use the online OS and the offline system remains untouched.

Well, there's also the thing that you have a single interface whereever you go. Sort of like a Multi-session LiveCD except it's easier to trust this eyeOS because it can't do anything to the host OS.

And then there's the thing, I could probably run this on any old computer, no system requirements. With a suitably fast broadband connection I could lug my old 400Mhz laptop around and not have much trouble.

I like the idea, but seeing where I live, it may not have much in it. We live on dialup

Ouch, back in the stone age eh? Anyhow, this is a good project. If they fix all the bugs they have a very good chance of commercial success.

Heh, not in the near future I think. Maybe much later. After all, processing power is cheap and easily available, and so is RAM, and hard disk space and bandwidth not so.

IANAE, but I think maybe until it's actually more efficient to use a program over the net rather than on a local computer, this'll be just fun to visit and not use. Definitely not for me, anyway.

I doubt it has no system requirements. I fail to see how this would be any lighter on your computer, considering that CPU usage was around 20% while using the eyeEdit (word processor?) feature. Its a decent idea but probably not meant as a lite version of an OS.
